Yoga

Hatha Yoga is one of the most traditional Yoga styles. The basic principle of Hatha is to achieve the balance between opposite energies within us (Ha = Sun, Tha = Moon, Yoga = Union). The practitioner is focusing on Asana (Yoga posture), Pranayama (breathing techniques), as well as on Meditation and relaxation techniques. Emphasis is on the proper body alignment and the cultivation of awareness. These are usually, slow paced lessons, suitable for beginners but also for anyone else who wants to deepen his/her practice. Historically, many other modern, popular Yoga styles such as Vinyasa Flow Yoga have their roots in Hatha Yoga.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga is a style that focuses on the coordination of movements and breathing. In this practice we become more creative and dynamic as we move in flow from one position to another. In contrast to more static practices (Hatha, Yin), the emphasis is more on the transition itself from one posture to another requiring deeper concentration. Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes provide detox, flexibility and strength and are suitable for those who already have some experience in Yoga and for those who want to "experiment" with the abilities of their body.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a practice of firm structure. The flow of Asanas (body postures) is uninterrupted and demanding so it is not recommended for beginners. The main goal is not only to learn the most demanding postures but to be able to maintain our inner awareness throughout the course. These classes combine Ujjayi Pranayama (a breathing technique), Bhandas (internal locks), Drishti (gaze points), and Asanas (body postures) building a practice that increases concentration, flexibility and power by activating the element of Agni (fire) within us and detoxifying our body.

Yin Yoga is a deeply meditative style inspired by Taoist Chinese tradition. Here we experience the stillness of the body, sinking into each position and letting go of anything else. In this lesson we work with gravity and time, maintaining positions long enough to take advantage of the therapeutic and relaxing benefits of the practice.

Tai Chi / Qi Gong

Tai Chi Quan is a deeply meditative, traditional Chinese martial art style that offers wellness, relaxation and health. The movements and the transitions are, mainly, practiced in a slow and gentle way so that its forms (sequence of movements) look like a harmonic flow.

These classes is a holistic way to stimulate and rejuvenate the body, to offer emotional release and mental clarity.

Qi Gong is a mindfulness based, traditional Chinese exercise that promotes wellness and health. Qi Gong means “Cultivation of Energy”. Through gentle movements, postures and special breathing patterns we release subtle tensions from body and mind, bringing the feeling of calmness and rejuvenation.
